We can rest in peace

“Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.” – Ps 119:76

A couple of days ago we had a pretty big storm and the heavy thundering woke me. My godchild were visiting and I went to look if the storm woke him to. I found him awake and wide-eyed with fear of the weather. We didn’t say anything, he just lifted his arms asking me to pick him up. I held him close and after a while he was fast asleep and even as the storm continued it didn’t matter to him anymore, he was in my arms, no longer afraid or reason for concern.

Being a stand-in-dad for him, taught me more than I ever imagined. When the storms of life hit, I can simply reach out to my Heavenly Dad and He will hold me close. I too can rest in peace despite my situation because He’s near and He’s not afraid. I no longer have reason for concern if I stay close to Him. What an amazing comforting thought!
