O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You;My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1
I’m currently in a town that’s without water. For many months people have been warned to be careful with how they use the water, but we don’t listen. Now the dams are empty and all kind of plans are made to save water. We re-use water for gardens, shower instead of taking a bath, buy drinking water, etc. Etc. People are finally starting to be careful and mindful BUT it seem that they find themselves more thirsty for water. The stores run out of water to buy and then people get crazy to find water to keep ... just in case there won’t be any more. To make it more difficult its hot summer months now and our bodies need water and the less water the more it yearns for more.
This is much like our spiritual life. When everything goes well, we don’t worry but the minute things start being difficult, we need God. Nothing wrong with that but God want us to long and thirst for Him all the time. “Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for His righteousness.” The truth is that the more we get into His Word, the more we desire for more. Just like the water.
The same way I carry my bottle of water with me to drink when I’m thirsty, I want to drink from His Word to increase my thirst for Him. I want to have such a thirst for Him that I can’t do anything without Him, everyday, throughout the day.
With that said, I also want others to see Him in me and share Him with others.
“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will neverThirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fountOf water springing up to eternal life.”
John 4:14 ESV
